Please know that the online giving does not make a distinction regarding a debit card or a credit card. We do strongly suggest that no one use a credit card unless it is paid off every month. The Bible speaks in Proverbs 22:7 about "…the borrower [being] servant to the lender." We do not wish our congregation to go into debt by tithing on a credit card.)
If you would like to donate stock or other assets to the church please contact us at email@example.com and we can help with the process.
Throughout the Bible, two actions are consistently portrayed as the primary sins of humans: idolatry and greed. Because the love of money is often central to both behaviors, Jesus regularly spoke of the relationship between our pocketbooks and the spiritual vitality of our hearts. In our present day culture, the issue of finances remains a key to our spiritual lives. Many individuals, families, organizations and businesses experience serious financial problems caused by idolatry and greed.
The teaching of the New Testament encourages giving in proportion to the material blessings one has received. Additionally, in response to Christ’s abundant giving to us, we should increasingly seek to submit our personal resources to His lordship, displaying a spirit of generosity and cheerfulness.
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house." (Malachi 3:10-11)
"The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it." (Psalm 24:1)
"Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best." (Proverbs 3:9)
A Christian’s primary giving is to be directed to the local church. In both the Old and New Testaments, offerings were regularly collected to maintain the ongoing work of God in the world. At The Compass Church, our campuses operate out of one general-fund budget which covers our ministry expenses as well as our supported missionaries. The General Fund directly allows the execution of the mission and vision of our church to take place. There are opportunities for giving beyond the General Fund. The most common are Assistance Fund (which directly helps people in need within our own congregation and in the community), and Christmas Offering (transforming lives beyond our church building here, near and far).
We encourage the personal reading and study of the many biblical teachings about stewardship. Also, we believe that Christian stewardship should be regularly communicated throughout the year. We offer instruction in responsible financial management for individuals and families in Financial Peace University Sessions. Information on these sessions is available by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
